Five Things I Think I Think About the Miami Dolphins - Week 1 2024

“I’m just happy to be here”

Skylar Thompson started. He is a backup quarterback. The Dolphins plan to start Tua Tagovailoa. But Tua Tagovailoa is hurt. So, Thompson started. He did not look terrible. He did not look great. But he did not look terrible. I’m not sure what else we really expected.

“This is the NFL”

The Dolphins lost to the Patriots. The Patriots are a good team. The Dolphins are not a good team. You know? You just have to tip your cap to the Patriots. They’re well-coached. They have a lot of good players. They’re always in the mix. The Dolphins aren’t in the mix. Not this year.

“We’re going to learn from this”

Mike McDaniel had a lot of good things to say after the game. He talked about how the Dolphins are going to learn from this. How they’re going to get better. How they’re going to be a playoff team next year. I don’t know. Maybe he’s right. I hope he’s right. But I’m not going to hold my breath.

“I’m not worried about the offense”

Mike McDaniel also said that he’s not worried about the Dolphins offense. He said that he has a lot of faith in Tua Tagovailoa. That he’s going to be a special player. So maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the Dolphins offense is going to be good. Maybe they’re going to be a playoff team next year. I hope so. But I’m not going to hold my breath.

“We’re going to be fine”

I’ll be honest. I’m not very optimistic about the Dolphins. I don’t think they’re going to be very good this year. But I’m always hopeful. I’m a Dolphins fan. I’m always hopeful that they’re going to turn it around. That they’re going to be a playoff team. That they’re going to win the Super Bowl. But I’m not going to hold my breath.
